Savoynet "Sorcerer"

The Savoynet Performing Group's Sorcerer at the 19th International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival in Buxton, England went up (and down) on August 8th.  It was a great success - the audience loved our hilarious modern-dress production, set in a hotel.  The cast was amazing, a delight to work with.

At the festival, the MD gets one three-hour rehearsal with the festival orchestra the day of the show, and that's it.  That had been my big worry, and I was as completely prepared for it as I knew how to be.  As it turned out, the orchestra was lovely, helpful, attentive and played beautifully.  Months of low-level worry gone as soon as I gave an upbeat and a downbeat and they followed it

I'd been preparing for that debut for a long, long time, and am still on Cloud 9 about how well it went!

More soon - the festival is still going on, but there will be awards granted and I suspect we might get one or two.
