Spring 2016

Winter was all about getting the Blue Hill Troupe concert singers ready for our three concerts in early March.  Those have happened, they were very successful and great fun!  Now that I've been through a full concert season, I have ideas about how to tackle next season (assuming I'm offered the job again) that I'm looking forward to exploring.

Actually, my season isn't quite over yet: BHT's Iolanthe goes up in early April and I'll be helping out on that.  Iolanthe is one of my favorite Gilbert & Sullivan's and, oddly enough, I've never actually done it (other than in concert).  If I hadn't had to drop my BHT membership in order to take the concert director job, I would have been in this one.  Ah, well, Savoynet is about due for another Iolanthe and I'll put in my oar for that.

Other than that, I have a rare-for-me French horn gig in late April: Schubert's Mass in G and Rutter's Feel the Spirit at the First Congregational Church in in Old Greenwich, Connecticut, under the baton of Dr. Craig Scott Symons (who is, not coincidentally, married to one of my college roommates).

I'll also be entering the American Prize competition again this year, for opera conducting (with Pirates) and musical theater conducting (with Night Music).  I should get started on that.
